United World Schools is quickly becoming the preeminent NGO focused on teaching the unreached in the world's most remote communities. With a model pioneered in Nepal, Cambodia, and Myanmar over ten years and across more than 220 UWS-built primary schools, UWS has proven its ability to build and operate scalable, high-functioning, and inexpensive schools anywhere there is a need. Looking forward to its next ten years, UWS is aggressively planning for exponential growth and impact across the globe.

To meet the next phase of UWS' global growth plans, the organization launched United World Schools- USA in early 2020. As the pillar of UWS' strategic growth strategy, UWS-USA is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit designed to firmly root the entire UWS organization within the world's multilateral and philanthropic capital.

Opportunity & Responsibilities
UWS-USA is recruiting fall and spring interns interested in learning about and supporting the full spectrum of an NGO growth-cycle. Building on UWS’ well-established UK entity, successful candidates will work closely with leadership teams in the United States, UK, and UWS-country offices to help establish and solidify the US presence of United World Schools. UWS is unique in that its schools not only teaches the unreached in the most remote communities on earth, their presence supports the development of an entire development ecosystem within their communities. UWS interns are thus drawn from backgrounds ranging from global educations interests, to wider development and development economics interests, to child welfare and other related interests.

Successful candidates will be exposed to a wide-range of tasks, from researching new countries and markets for UWS to implement its school-building model; to raising awareness across the United States for UWS’ mission through online and traditional media; to supporting funding and resource development; to working with UWS’ US-based partner school network; to reviewing and advising on evaluation and outcome measurements.

Because UWS-USA is backed UWS, interns will experience both the pace and energy of a startup along with the solid footing and security that comes within a well-established and globally recognized NGO.
