United World Schools is looking for someone driven and ambitious wanting to gain experience in international development and the charity sector, with a specific focus on fundraising and events. 

This fixed term role will run for 3 months and will provide the opportunity to work within the fundraising team to support our work at a critical time. 

The role will specifically focus on supporting us as we prepare for our largest fundraising event to date: the United World Schools 2019 Gala Dinner on 6th November 2019. The funds raised from these activities will directly contribute towards our ambitious goal of enrolling 50,000 children into school.  

The role is part-time (3 days/week) for three months which would include, but not be confined to support the following: 

Event Support:

  • Coordination of live and silent gala auctions, including sourcing prizes and collating an appealing auction brochure
  • Producing bespoke communication and marketing materials for the event, aimed at high-net-worth individuals
  • Supporting the team with event logistics e.g creation and coordination of seating plans, overseeing guest requirements, volunteer support
  • Following up with guests after the gala to secure pledges and ensure their continued engagement and support

Fundraising support: 

  • General communication with our major donors through a variety of channels, including formal reporting and email updates 

Communications and administrative support: 

  • Content creation for the UWS website and blog 
  • Social media support across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram 
  • General administrative support across all UWS teams where needed

Who we are looking for: 

We are looking for a bright and ambitious person, keen to gain experience in the non-profit sector, specifically with an interest in fundraising and events. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about education and understands the impact it has on the lives and opportunities of children around the world. 

Applicants should: 

  • Be a university graduate, or have relevant work experience. 
  • Demonstrate interest, enthusiasm and empathy with the work of United World Schools.
  • Have excellent written skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and craft content across various platforms.
  • Have excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Have a high standard of written and verbal English. 
  • Be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to use initiative. 
  • Be versatile and able to juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Be comfortable working in a small team or independently. 
  • Events coordination experience is desirable, but not essential. 
  • As this role has an element of event organisation, candidates should be happy to work occasional evenings as required (no more than 1 per month). 

Location: Central London Office (Vauxhall) 

Salary: £73.48 per day (London living wage) 

Start date: 8th September 2019

End date: 8th December 2019
