Role description

The award-winning United World Schools (UWS) charity is seeking an Associate Director, Philanthropy to help them take on the challenge of reaching millions of children with life-changing education.

United World Schools works to improve the life opportunities of some of the world’s poorest children living in remote and marginalised communities. Right now, there are around 258 million children who are missing out on an education. UWS partners with local communities and supporters around the world to build, equip and resource primary schools sustainably.

The charity is seeking a dynamic philanthropy expert with a genuine passion for relationship-based fundraising to lead a small team in a fast-paced environment dedicated to supporting an ambitious 10 year high-value growth strategy.

The role is responsible for developing and delivering that strategy in a way which fosters a culture of innovation and relationship-focused fundraising. It will build on an already highly successful philanthropy programme which raises over £1 million annually. The role also involves working with the UK Directors and Executive Director (USA) on long-term global philanthropy strategy and plans.

The charity is looking for highly motivated candidates who have extensive understanding and experience of philanthropy trends and a strong track record in a high value environment, whether that is high-net-worth individuals, family trusts and/or corporates. You will be accustomed to building and securing new business, have strong project management skills and be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
