Help children in Myanmar stay in school Donate Globally, children miss 272 million days of school every year due to sanitation-related illnesses. Help us change this. At United World Schools, we know that our students need to be healthy and fit in order to learn to the best of their abilities. However, the communities we work with in Myanmar are extremely poor, lack sanitation tools like toothbrushes and soap, and have not been educated about basic hygiene practices. These factors often mean students are unable to attend school due to sanitation-related illnesses, such as diarrhoea. We're trying to change this. Our complementary programmes have the power to: In Myanmar, our teachers run 'life-skills' classes which include hand-washing and teeth-brushing drills. Students share these skills with their families, improving the health and wellbeing of their entire community. Our programmes arm students with basic skills, which not only mean they are healthy enough to attend school, but have the potential to save lives. As part of this programme, we provide our students with hygiene kits to help improve their health and sanitation. These kits include: Toothbrushes Toothpaste Soap Nail clippers Combs Oil (to help comb matted hair) These kits are crucial to improving student hygiene and help prevent children from becoming ill. We rely on donations to fund these essential kits. Donating £25 can provide hygiene kits for an entire classroom. Donating monthly can support our ongoing sanitation and hygiene programmes.
