Cambodia (2008 – present)

In April 2017, UWS had 54 active schools in Cambodia, with many more in development. We are now working in Ratanakiri, Stung Treng and Mondulkiri Provinces

Myanmar (2013 – present)

Shan State, Myanmar

In April 2017, UWS had 12 active schools in Myanmar. Ballram, Mae Yay, Saing Khun, Hansea, Kaung Whatt to name just a few of the communities we are working with.

Nepal (2015 – present)

We are now up and running with the establishment of UWS Nepal in the Eastern Nepal region! We have 7 schools active in the Sankhuwasabha District, with a further 4 schools in development. UWS Country Director Surya Karki is leading the project and UWS Nepal team development.

UWS in numbers

  • 13,000 children have been given the opportunity to attend a UWS Community School
  • 73 UWS school development projects are operating across 3 countries
  • 160 locally based teachers are employed and receive regular training
  • Operating costs remain low; most schools cost around $1 per child per week
