As a new project, there’s still a lot to be done. Plans for the school include installing solar power to enable evening classes and community meetings; building a community well to ensure a reliable and safe water supply; constructing a toilet block to promote good hygiene; and providing teacher accommodation in the form of an on-site house.
We will also be equipping all students with their own UWS school bag, containing an exercise book, basic stationery and crayons for drawing. This is part of our approach to supporting local families to develop the habit of attending school. This way, UWS Jong Ra School will become central to village life, ensuring community ownership and a sustainable future.
Another exciting development here is the partnership between UWS and Yorn Dany, a member of the Lumphat district authority, who will oversee educational development at UWS Jong Ra School.
