The past few months have been busy for the UWS Nepal team! Since the inauguration of our first school in May, a further 4 schools have been completed, and another building project is already underway. This means that we will soon have 6 schools in the Sankhuwasabha district of East Nepal. News of these first UWS schools has been travelling fast – we were even featured in a local newspaper!
However, our aim is not to just build schools, but to teach children to read, write and count. Our challenge over the next few months will be to nurture these first few schools into life, ensuring that children are not only attending school, but learning and enjoying their time there.
So, what’s actually happening in these new schools?
Well, in UWS Mude School and UWS Gurase School (pictured), lessons have been underway for several weeks. Children are already learning to read, write and count, and lego has proved a very popular addition to the classroom!
Finally, UWS Baga School is now complete and lessons are underway! Meanwhile, UWS Chiraite School is already under construction, and will be our 6th school to launch this year.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the hard work of our supporters. A huge thanks goes to all the schools and individuals that have been fundraising to support our Nepal projects so far – keep up the good work!
